How to Inspect Motorcycle Sprockets

Motorcycle sprockets are the parts of the motorcycle that turn the chain and give power to the real wheel given by the transmission. There are two sprockets: the front one for the transmission and the rear one for the rear wheel. If a problem with a sprocket the bike may lose power and the chain could potentially snap. Because sprockets are so important to the safety of the rider and others on the road properly checking the sprockets is a very important process. Below are the tips that can assist you in this process.
First: Install Motorcycle Lift
The first thing you need to do is to make sure you have your motorcycle in the neutral position. You do not want the motorcycle to run away from you when you are inspecting the sprockets! Next you need to install a motorcycle lift under the frame of the engine. After that pull the handle down to lift the motorcycle's tires.
Second: Turn Rear Wheel
Once you complete the first step, the next thing to do is carefully turn the rear wheel and view both the front and back sprockets.
Third: Inspect Sprockets
The final step is to make sure you inspect both sprockets to ensure there is no rust, wear or broken teeth. You must replace the sprockets if any of these characteristics are present in the sprockets. You do not want your chain snapping while riding on your motorcycle. If you need replacement sprockets they are usually sold on a motorcycle dealer's website or directly through the motorcycle dealer.
